checking in:

Hi everyone, I've been off the computer for awhile...... had my surgery on my hand (the knuckle on the left index finger remove, it was so bad from gout) I'm having a hard time healing! but its getting better. and of course I have to type one handed!!!!! I put on a lot...... of weight with the surgery, was 241 the morning of surgery and 249 a few days after. but I started eating rice again and this morning I'm at 239. I like rice with a cheese sauce, and rice and black eyed peas, rice and chicken breast with cream of mushroom soup. If you have any good recipes I'd like to have them.
I love hearing from all of you. I really need your help with staying with this. (so much better for my health) I've been feeling pretty good but I miss my knitting and crocheting.
God bless all of you,
Joycie

weigh in for me!

Hey gang - just a quick note with my latest weigh in... I've been bouncing around the 251 - 252 mark for a while now, which on one hand is a good thing since I haven't gone back up to the 257.5 mark where I started from... BUT it's also slightly discouraging because it's like the scale is just stuck there.  But then, today, I got on the scale fully expecting to see the same old numbers, and I was very pleasantly surprised to see the number 249.5!!!  So somehow I've finally broken through the 250 mark, I'm pretty excited about that.  The only thing I did differently yesterday was eat rice.  No joke.  So I'm going to cook up some more rice, and eat some today also - we'll see what tomorrow brings!!  :)

I'm checking in, too...

Hey hey everyone!  Sissie, let me just say that you should join a bowling league with a score of 202!!  My friend Kelly bowls, and I'm sure they'd LOVE to have you!  :)  Great job!  No matter what you do, getting up and moving around counts!!  :)  I went grocery shopping today, and you can bet your bottom dollar that I'm counting that!  LOL

Yesterday I was back down, today I'm back up.  I still haven't reached 250 even, but I'm not giving up yet... these last few days I've had a visitor, you know the one, our wonderful "Aunt Flo" that makes us hold onto water, crave salty things and chocolate... so I figure if I'm not bouncing back up to where I was a couple weeks ago I must be doing something right.  Exactly what that is, I'm not sure, but I'll just keep doing whatever I've been doing and call it good.  How's that sound?  LOL

We went to a wedding this weekend - my husband officiated again... so there was reception food and a few "adult" beverages.  My eldest son drove us home, though - I don't like drinking when I'm away from home if I'm the one responsible for getting everyone home safely... so I let William take the wheel and we made it home safe & sound.  :)  All in all, we had a wonderful time and I didn't gain a bunch of weight, so I was happy twice over!  (At least)  The wedding was for the daughter of one of my best friends... this will be the second wedding my husband has performed for one of my best friends' kids.  Pretty cool, huh??  :)

So officially, this morning I was 252.0 again.  I'm getting rather tired of seeing that particular number on the scale.  I'm hoping when Aunt "Flo" goes home I can make some real headway.  Tomorrow we head East to Ypsilanti, MI for my husband to perform another wedding ceremony... he's getting pretty popular!  :)

It's so awesome to hear everyone's progress!!  You all keep up the GREAT work!  :)

Mega hugs!!

Just checkin in:)

good evening everyone, just wanted to check in and see how everyone is doing so far this week. Tammy great job on your loss, and Mel I know you are doing good also:)

so far this week I have used the WII Fit yesterday and today! yesterday was 15 minutes. today I did the bowling against my sister and nephew and I am Proud to say I WHOPPED them LOL I bowled a 202!! then of course nephew beat me good in golf LOL but the main part is we played for 2 hours without me even giving out to the point that I had to quit cause I could not get up and down out of my chair! now the 15 minutes that I do on the Fit is a killer! i am doing as much as I can on the balance cause my back, legs and knees are what hurt me the worse. and I want to say I am doing a little better.

have any of you seen the site http://www.livestrong.com/ ? I found it last week though facebook, someone I can't remember posted it there. it is pretty neat. I am keeping track of my calories on the "my Plate" page. not doing much else there yet. I am coming out almost 700 calories short each day.

ok talk more later
hugs
sissie

Good Morning .......

Well........... I'm on Week #3 now and am down 5lbs! YAY ME!!!

I am so proud of you Sissie and Mel!!!! You two are doing great.. both with weight and attitude!!! Good for you!

I have been doing real good with my calorie count... could have done better this weekend with water intake. Spent alot of time running errands... so I'm counting some of that as exercises.... hehehehee :)
I made a Great pot of chili this weekend and it was only 100 cal per cup... so 2-3 cups is a NICE full bowl... and easy on the calories!

Not sure what we're having tonight... I may make a nice grilled chicken dinner.

you all have a great day!!!!
Check back in tomorrow!
God Bless,

Week Two Weigh IN

Good Morning Ladies,
So as we know I have made Sunday as MY official weekly weigh in date. so this is Sunday and I am Happy to say I am down 9.6 pounds! I am now 317.2
NOW let me tell you I am sure this is not all from being good as I ended up with celulitus in my left leg and it was pretty bad. The Dr has but me on Cephalexin 500 mg. and my leg is look and feeling alot better! so I am sure that is where a lot of the fluid and weight is coming off from. But it is a loss and I am taking it LOL

as for my exericing I have not done anything for the last two day been to sick with a cold I am guessing:( but did get in 4 days of at lease 10 mins so better than nothing Right?

oh also while at the Dr the other day my blood work for the second time came back worse that the first:(( My BS count was at 7.5 and should be below 6.0 so Dr put me on Metformin 500 mg. another GOOD reason to do something about this weight NOW!! and my liver count was up again. not sure what this means but am sure if I work on getting healthy again this will fix itself also:)

My Goals for week 2 are: 15 minute work out 4 days on either the WII Fit or a Walk.
do my best to get at lease 48 oz's of water every day!
Stay OUT of My sisters Sweet Tea!! man I have fallen in love with her tea, BUT she makes it with 2 cups of sugar to a gallon. so I know I do not need that!!

ok so enough about me, how was everyone else's week?

Hugs
sissie

Tammy

Woo Hoo!!  Way to go Tammy!!!

Yesterday, I was at 251.0... today?  well, today showed me at 252.0.  So I'm back up a pound.  But it's just one pound, and I'm sure I can scare it away.  So no worries there.  At least I'm not worried about it.  We'll just have to see what tomorrow brings!

weigh in

I dropped another couple of pounds!!  :)  My weigh in this morning shows me at 252.0!!!

That's all I have to report.

Have a great weekend!!!

Friday, September 17, 2010

well hello there!

Checking in - not too much to report up until this week... I've been pretty stagnant as far as weight loss which is a bummer, but there it is.  It's not the fault of anyone else, and taking full responsibility for what I eat and do is the first step in this process I suppose!  I have lost 3.5 pounds (somehow) this week, although I am not exactly sure how it happened... I'm just going to keep on doing what I've been doing and see if it keeps working!  LOL

So far, I've only made one change - and that is eating as little sodium as possible.  Oh, I also did walk to pick the kids up from school yesterday and today (about 1 mile, round trip), but I need to do a lot more than that!

I'm looking forward to everyone checking in more often, it's a lot easier to keep myself on track if I feel accountable to others!!

Good luck everyone!!!

- Melani

check in

Okay, I weighed myself yesterday and I was at 254.5.  I haven't been doing anything really different, so I'm going to try doing something different each day to see what works for me.  I just don't know what yet.  Yesterday I played in the rain with the kids for a little while, but I doubt that burned off too many calories.  Monday it was doing house repair and if the amount of sweat I produced was any indication (which I'm sure it isn't, as it was probably 400% humidity up until last night, at least that's what it felt like) that should have done some good!  LOL  I weighed myself today and the scale said 253.5.  So far, it's not anywhere near the 5 pounds a week I read with the "Biggest Loser" contestants, but I suppose that's because I'm not doing whatever they do and I don't have a personal trainer and a camera on my big butt all the time to hold me accountable!

So, until next time I check in, that's where I'm at...

I hope everyone else is doing well... Joyce, how are things going with you?  Tammy, I know what you've been up to - up to your neck in summer activities!!  :)

TTFN!!!

report

Okay, I promised to weigh in on Wednesday, and I did - but I just didn't post.  I weighed 257 on Wednesday, then yesterday I weighed 257.5... but today I weigh 254.5 so I like that one better!!  LOL  It has been sooooo hot and muggy, and I know I'm not drinking enough water... as well as it's so hot I don't even want to move at all... ugh!  I am going to see about drinking a lot of water today, and eating foods low in sodium... maybe that will help some of this "water weight" disappear!  :)

So, until next time...

Checking in

Hello!  I'm still here... my weight loss is going in reverse lately, which is why I've been very lazy about posting...

I weighed myself today and I'm now up to 258.5.  Ugh.  That's really about all I have to say about that!

Okay - there's my report.  I'll do my best to remember to post on Wednesday, hopefully I'll be lower than I was today!

Update on weight loss

Hi, sorry I haven't gotten back to all of you, but my health has taken its ups and downs, I have a real bad gout infection in my index finger on the left hand, they will be doing surgery on Wed. but on the side of good news the weight this morning is 236!!!!!!! I'm starting to feel the weight loss, clothes fix so much better, the only thing is with this finger in so much pain, no knitting or crocheting, ( I tried a couple of times, but it didn't work) THE KEY TO WEIGHT LOSS IS DRINK YOUR WATER. Mel how are you doing? and Tam what about you? I check the blog every day but no news! take care of yourselves and keep in touch.

with love Joycie

weigh in

I weighed myself today - I am at 251 as of this morning... yesterday I was at 250.5, but I suppose I really should count the 251, shouldn't I?  So far, I haven't gotten close to the max that I was at before, so I'm happy with what I'm seeing so far... and this evening I'm going on a walk with my friend Kelly...

Hopefully, next week will see even more progress being made!!  :)  That's all for now, folks!

weigh in a day late

Hey gals!  I just weighed myself, and I'm now at 252.  I was at 259.5 a short while ago - I can't remember if that was last week or the week before, but either way I'm down 7.5 pounds!!  Not worrying about yarn too much at this point, just glad to have a few pounds off.  Now hopefully I can stay there, and continue losing...

Sorry I'm a day late but I can't seem to keep track of what day it is anymore!  LOL

Have a great weekend!!

new inspiration

I've recently discovered a new blog.  This man is attempting to lose half his body weight - and he's nearly accomplished his goal!  Sometimes the language is a bit crude, but overall reading about his triumph is quite inspiring... he's not giving up, so I'm not either!

I still weigh more than I did when I was at my lowest - but I weigh less than I did yesterday, so I'm moving in the right direction!  I just have to keep on keepin' on, and it will happen - right?

I have never watched the Biggest Loser, but apparently the winner of this season's show also lost more than half his own body weight - what an accomplishment!  I don't believe I should lose half of my body weight, but I'm looking at probably a third or so... Let's see... I weigh almost 260 now, and I want to get down to around 170 or 180 - so that's about an 80 or 90 pound loss.  Heh - I just did the math, and it looks like if I lost one third of my body weight, I'd weigh just about what I think I should!  So there we have it, girls!  That's my goal; to weigh one third less than I do now.  How long do you think it will take me?  I was reading a bit about the contestants on the Biggest Loser - they seemed to lose an average of 5 or 6 pounds a week.  I've never thought that was healthy, but I suppose they were all being carefully monitored so it was fine, I'm sure.  If I were able to lose 5 pounds a week, it would take me 17 weeks or so.  We're getting ready to stare June in the face, if I count out 17 weeks from the beginning of June, it lands right around the end of September.  Hmmm - do you suppose I could be the size I want to be by the end of summer?  Even if I nearly double the amount of time it would take, I should still be able to reach my goal by the end of the year!  Wow - it doesn't seem possible!  I'm gonna go for it!!!

Joycie - you are still in my thoughts and healthful prayers are said on your behalf!  Tammy - is the sickness about done at your house?  I don't want to speak too soon, but we may be on the way to healthy here, and I'm praying the same is going on at your house!

Hugs to you all!!

Whats new

Well Sat. morning my pacemaker went off 3 times and I fainted, Lou took me to the hospital to get checked out and after tests, tubes, needles, and every machine you can think of, hooked to me, I spent 3 days in the hospital. I'm home and on a new medicine and it makes me very sick, but I'm glad to be home. While at the hospital I put on 10 pounds of water weight, and now I have that to get off! but I already lost 2 pounds of it and maybe tomorrow will bring good news.
I love hearing from you guys I need your support.
Hugs and Love

Good Morning................

How is everyone today?
I'm hangin' in there. I am one busy mom!!!
School coming to an end... so end of the year projects and major reports being done. Baseball Season is in full force......... so its Games and Practices all the time!
My daughter and I are working the diet scene hard! We have been at it just this week and so far... so good! I had gained a few of the pounds I lost... but am now back to where I was.
So I'm back on track to getting the last of my weight off! WooHoo
We havent been doing anything real crazy... just drinking LOTS of water and watching our calorie count. So we still have a cookie or brownie if we want.... we just count for it in our day of foods!
I'm still fighting a cold! :(
I had gotten rid of it at one point but had a lingering cough... now I'm back to a sinus cold. *sigh*
This darn weather isn't helping! But being so busy that I cant really rest is probably my biggest problem.
Oh well............... life of a mom ... right?!
Okay... I'm off to get some more things done ladies.... I have to get a dessert made and dropped off by 10:30am to a Funeral Service Luncheon for a dear friend here in town who's father passed away recently!
you all have a GREAT day!
drink lots of water .... :)

Wet Wednesday............

Good Morning ................
its a raining day here. Which any other day would be fine............. but my little David has a field trip today. I sure hope it doesn't spoil that for him.
It didn't help that he woke this morning with a Croup Attack either. We got his breathing under control and he seem to be better when he left for school. Good thing daddy is with him today for his field trip.

So............... how is everyone doing? Hows the water intake? Mine has been bad! But today I'm doing better already! Had a yogurt for breakfast......... plan on having something light for lunch and then a nice sub sandwich for dinner.

Well....... I need to get........ I have a pair of baby booties I need to test for a fellow 'viller!
you all have GREAT day!
Stay positive... focused and dry........ :)

Whew..................

I have been such a bad girl................... neglecting you all like I have! Please forgive me!
Things have been a bit on the ..... oh................CRAZY side around here.
Busy with the boys ... school...sports......etc. Family childish issues............. *rolling eyes* I'm pretty sure my 9 yr old acts more mature! I'm emotionally tired and physically tired. I have family that is ill............ :( Breaks my heart.
I miss my daddy somethin' awful these days!!! :(
and to top it all off................... I havent lost a single ounce of weight. grrrrr.
I am just a flipping basket case. sheesh!
I have been crocheting like crazy though lately. Had to put my knitting down for a while. I have injured my thumb on my left hand from all the knitting I had been doing. A very dear man/father of fellow ball player/doctor... is helping me deal with my boo boo!

okay... I know this is pathetically short..........but I need to run. I have things I need to do before getting the boys from school then off to ball practice.

you all have a Great day!

Good Morning

Its Wed. and I have lost all track of time, the days pass and I don't know where! I haven't gained and I haven't lost any weight but I'm feeling some what better now that the warm weather is coming to visit. I have to get real serious about this weight loss though only because I'm running low on yarn!!! I made several dishcloths, slippers, a few afghans and did some plastic canvas coasters and now I'm working on a navy blue afghan for myself. The news about my heart is about the same and working on getting the Kidneys to improve. But the toughest part of my days is the news that my sister has cancer so bad that theirs nothing they can do for her. So I have a lot of time spent in prayer since that seems to be the only thing we can do for her.
Love and hugs

Checking in

Hello! I'm still here, not much to report from this side of the country... Any weight I thought I had lost found me again (must be I don't hide so well...) so I'm pretty much back to square... oh, I don't know, I might not be all the way back to square one, so maybe I'm at square 2 or 3, but I'm not as far as I was before anyway. It's a bummer, but it's also normal for me. I just try to lose a few pounds and stay at that weight long enough for it to become my "normal" weight, and go from there... it just never sticks as my new normal! LOL I'm not sure what I'm doing wrong, exactly, but I'm sure I must not be doing enough right just yet. But the weather's getting warmer, and hope springs eternal!!

Great news Tammy! What colors are you choosing for your new yarn?? Do you have a project in mind for it???

Good to hear from you, Joyce - just keep hanging in there! Not much else you can do right now, I'm sure.

I've still got you both in my prayers...

Hugs all around!!

Sunday Morning

Good Morning....I want to let you know I'm holding my own, haven't lost or gained any weight, but thats ok with me for now I'm still trying to get the kidney thing under control making little head way but thats ok too. My sister in Michigan is in real bad shape, first in Oct she found out she had cancer in her one lung, and they were treating her for it. but her platelets in her blood isn't high enough to do chemotherapy. Last Sunday at church they had to call the rescue squad to take her to Midland Hospital, there they found cancer in the brain, and thought they could do surgery on it Weds. but now they found its all over the brain. and will try radiation for 10 days.
I did start something new for me this last week though I call the senior center and I'm not having meals delivered to me at noon everyday, this meal is low sodium and low fat, it includes a main dish, 2 veggie, fruit, and milk oh ya a roll and butter! They are very good.
I miss hearing from all of you and hope your doing ok..
Hugs

Microwave on HIGH 20 to 30 sec. or just until warmed. Immediately spoon 1/3 cup meat mixture down center of each warm tortilla; roll up. Place, seam-side down, over salsa in dish. Repeat with remaining tortillas and meat mixture; top with remaining salsa. Cover with foil.
BAKE 20 min. or until heated through. Uncover; top with remaining cheese. Bake 2 to 3 min. or until cheese is melted. Top with cilantro

Update

The past few weeks have been such a blur, that I'm surprised I remember my name! I have had so many needles poked in me, I'm bruised up and down my arms and the back of my hands.
I'm still heading for kidney failure but I don't see the Nephrologist (kidney doctor) till March 31, there is only 4 in Joplin and its hard to get an appointment with them! So with the heart working at 10% and the kidneys working at 24%, I'm sure glad to wake up each morning and thank the Good Lord for all the wonderful thing He has given me, my family, my yarn and of course you true friends.
As for weight loss I'm still on track lost another 2 pounds a total of 30 since the first of the year!
I'm walking up to 1200 steps a day, (lucky if I could do 100 in Jan) (Tam, no use of the oxygen since Jan). My real goal now is to be able to get up and down the steps to the garage or front porch by myself.

Remember Life is what you make it, stay with the Lord and its beautiful.
love ya all, Joycie

**Whew......................

I am so sorry for being so absent!! Please forgive me!
The boys have kept me so very busy with Basketball... and Wrestling.
Ken has a cold.... the boys have the sniffles and are trying hard not to really get sick! Patrick refuses to be sick.. he has Perfect attendance in school and has since 1st grade. I've been making sure they drink lots of water and taking EmerganC (Vit C) So far... what could be a bad cold that could knock them down.. has just been an annoyance! Thank you God!!!
There has been some family issues going about and its starting to take its tole on me. Because of the emotional drama... its affecting me physically.

Aunt Joyce.............
I love you so much! I am so proud of you... and I know you have times that you are scared... but I want you to know... I believe God has many more years He needs you here! You have a gift of love through your crocheting and knitting that spreads Gods love to all who come in contact with you! He needs you to touch lives... He knows that through you many will come to find Him.
Thank you for hangin' in there with this blog. I'm sorry I haven't been around. I love you!
I too am thankful for you and Uncle Lou. You love me no matter what! Even when I'm a poppy head and don't post like I should on my blogs! :)
Keep up the good work on your eating habits! It will pay off! One pound at a time!
And hang on to your faith... One prayer at a time!
I have a vision of you and Jesus. You're sitting in your chair knitting.... Jesus is sitting there on the floor in front of you.... unwinding a knot in the yarn your working with .... so that you can keep knitting. The two of you are talking and laughing ... enjoying each others company while you create a gift for someone.

Miss Mel.......... you sweetheart you!
Good for you on your weight loss................ I know there are bumps in road sometimes... but the key is to not get stuck on them.... keep going and get over the bump ... moving on to the next bump. :)
You're doing great!
I haven't lost another ounce... I think its due to the stress I've been under. Not coming here and getting love and support isn't helping either! Shame on me!
I am so sorry to hear of your friend Jan's loss! Prayers said for her!!! Bless her heart!!!

Okay.... off I go... I need to post a dishcloth pattern on my other blog. I've been slacking a bit there too. :(

you all have a Fabulous Friday... and a Wonderful Weekend!
I'm finishing up my breakfast bar right now... sipping my coffee ... and will get another bottle of water here soon!

Where is everyone?

I know! Everyone is on vacation or hibernating until Spring. Can't say that I blame you one bit!!! I just popped in to report on my weigh-in.. I didn't report last week, because I had a gain of 1.5 pounds. I was also menstruating, and I've read that you shouldn't even weigh yourself when on your period because with water weight gain and puffiness, it won't be accurate. So, I didn't post. Then, when I weighed myself yesterday, I had lost 2.5 pounds! So, I am at a total now of 8.5 pounds lost. I'm excited! Only 1.5 pounds to go and I can say I've lost 10 pounds!! Then, it's just a little bit til 15, then 20, oh, yes - this is getting quite thrilling!! I just have to stare down that last 24 ounces!!

So, how is everyone else doing???

I have some sad news to share; one of my friends lost her son on Friday last week. He was only 30 years old. If you wouldn't mind sending some positive thoughts and prayers her way, that would be wonderful! Her name is Jan, and her son's name is/was Spencer. Thanks everyone!

Sunday Morning Chat

Good morning, a little background about me is: I'm 63 on disability because of my heart its in BAD shape and I have a pacemaker/defib to keep me going. And as you know I'm overweight!
I've tried every diet under the sun and as soon as I eat one good tasting meal I put it all back on. The first of the year I weighted 270 and said thats it.....I've been reading The One Pounders and decided thats what I've needed all along is someone who understands how hard it is. And I thank all of you for your support. This morning the scales announced that I weighed 243.2 WOW all sound pretty good right, well Wed I went for chest x-ray and EKG and blood work, got home and the doctor called and said I had to go to ER right a way, my BUN (blood Urea Nitrogen) was 160 and normal is 7-22, could be my kidneys, went to ER and after 6 hours there they found a room for me. Spent A night of Hell in a cold room with a roommate who sleeps with the TV going, nurses coming in every hour to see if your alive. Got to come home Thur. afternoon and have go in early Monday Morning for blood work and to see the Cardiovascular Doctor, in the mean time I'm to be on low sodium and low Potassium diet. To tell ya the truth I'm scared to death to eat anything not knowing what to really have, so this morning I had special K cereal with 2% milk , 1 slice of toast, with butter! Lunch will be 1/2 cup of cottage cheese, 1 slice of bread with 2 tablespoons of Peanut butter, 8 oz of 2% milk, Yummy.
Now for the things I'm Thankful For:
1. My faith, He listens to me day and night (anytime)
2 My wonderful husband of 23 years who is Awesome
3. My daughter, her husband and my beautiful granddaughter
4. My step-son, wife and 2 wonderful toddlers (who are in Okinawa, with the Navy)
5. My step-son, that lives in Omaha
6. Yarn.......I knit and crochet everyday
7. Favorite niece , her husband, and family (Love Ya Tam)
8. The wonderful doctors I have.
9. My church family
10. And of course I'm very thankful for all of you, ( Mel keep up the good work)
God bless, Joyce

Wednesday weigh-in report

Wednesday was yesterday - I know, but I forgot to weigh-in... sorry about that! I did weigh in this morning, though, and I'm happy to report that I've re-lost the weight that I lost and then found again, AND I've lost a little more to go along with it! So, I'm now at a 7.5 pound loss overall. Yippee!! We shall just have to see how this progresses...

Since it is Thursday today, I will post some things I am thankful for, as well...

Let's see - I'm thankful for the weather. It may seem silly, but here in our little neck of the woods, we haven't had it too bad this winter. This past week was our first really notable snowstorm, and we still only got maybe 10 inches all together. I'm happy with that amount, don't like to be greedy, so we really don't need any more! We did have a snow day yesterday - but I wasn't feeling well most of the day so I didn't get to take advantage of having everyone home. :( Oh, well - at least the house still runs fairly smoothly even when "Mom" is down! Hey - that sounds like something else to be thankful for! A self-sufficient family! LOL Then, there is my son proposing to his long-time girlfriend... it's crazy, really - both of them are seventeen, Juniors in high school, William has signed up with the Army National Guard, his girlfriend is also trying to get in, and he proposed the other day! I asked him if he's comfortable with the path his life is on, wanting to make sure he didn't feel pressured into doing something he wasn't ready for - his response? "Feels pretty good to me, Mom!" So I just say que sera sera... they are planning a May 1, 2011 wedding (which is before graduation) and a wedding reception/open house combo for after graduation. Can we say "non traditional"??? LOL They do seem good together, they tend to play to each others' strengths and cover each others' weaknesses, so I think they make a great team. That's just my opinion, though. God might have something else in mind for them - only He knows that for sure! I'm not sure how many things that is, I've lost count... which is something else I'm thankful for! Having enough things that I'm thankful for that I've lost count!!!

I sure hope everyone else is doing well... I'm out of here for now!

Hugs!!

Weigh in Wednesday

Well..... this is what the scales said ' lost 1 pound,' which I'm happy with, I had a few things to eat over the weekend that wasn't quite on any diet! but I've been moving around more and have a lot more energy and to me that counts for a lot.

Wednesday weigh-in report

:( Well, well, well - guess what? The 5.5 pounds I lost last week after being sick did not stay gone. Some of it did, but some of it is back. I gained 2 pounds. The up side? I'm still down 3.5 pounds overall, and I wasn't really expecting it to stay gone since I lost it when I was sick... so I'm not too discouraged!! I'll just keep plugging along!!

I sure hope your headache lets up soon, Tammy! Just tell it to go away in Jesus' name - it works for a friend of mine, she was battling migraines for quite some time, and that's what she does now - she says it works every time! I'll be keeping you in my thoughts & prayers!!

Til next time...

:)

Weigh-in Wednesday..........

Good Morning all.............
Wow....... I do apologize for missing so much lately......... I'm tending to one heck of a headache! :(
Well.......... weight loss report for me today is '0' .... but on a good note........ weight gain is also '0'
Its been a bit rough focusing with this darn headache!
I'm drinking my water and watching my calories.... but my behavior hasnt been consistent!
It doesnt help when the boys have us always on the run!
Wrestling for Patrick... Basketball for Michael and David..... practice ... practice... practice... Games! "whew"

Okay gang.............. how's everyone else doing?

I'm off to get more water and a refill on my coffee.
Then get some crocheting done!!! I have a Valentine gift for hubby I'm wanting to get done!

hugs...love & blessings,

My thankful list

I know, you probably figured I forgot all about posting my 10 things I'm thankful for this week. You'll be pleased to know I didn't forget! I did get sidetracked - which is pretty normal for me - but I did remember! Here goes -

  1. God's grace - boy, do I ever need that!
  2. Health! After last weekend, I'm so thankful everyone is healthy!
  3. Deadlines - whether or not I manage to meet them, having them there staring me in the face gives me something to aim for!
  4. Coffee - today was the first day in about a week that I've actually had a cup of coffee! YUMMY!!
  5. Having a week off from babysitting - the girl I babysit for is having her sister-in-law watch her kids next week, so I'm off the hook! Her sister-in-law is preparing to move, and needs the extra cash. Thankfully, I don't!
  6. My kids! They are all such blessings, especially when they are sleeping peacefully and not interrupting me!
  7. Interruptions - sometimes, I need to be interrupted to remind me what the important things in life are!
  8. Helpers making dinner... Arielle (who is 6 years old) made dinner Thursday night. We had chicken pot pie (although not exactly like we usually make it) and she did all the work herself! I was just there to supervise and advise, I did stir a couple things and I put the pie in the oven and took it out, but she did all the rest of the work herself!
  9. Chocolate cake with chocolate frosting! Yes, we did make a chocolate cake with chocolate frosting! No, I haven't denied myself the pleasure of eating a small piece. Yes, I enjoyed it very much!!
  10. Friends! They're like family, only better, because we choose them!! :)

Just wanted to share

Hello everyone! I was just reading another blog, Sunflowers At Home, and "Ginny" mentioned something I thought might be helpful to us... so I'm posting a link to what she found on our blog for our benefit, too! It has to do with biblical eating, and I'm not going to go into it any further as I have only just glanced at the site, but what I saw looked like it might be beneficial. The name of the site is Setting Captives Free, the Lord's Table - so feel free to check it out! I didn't post my Thankful Thursday top ten list - but I'm planning to do that tomorrow. I figure a day late is better than not at all! Take care everybody!!

Thankful Thursday........

1) Jesus Christ for taking my sins and giving me a way home to God.
2) Frosted over van windows. (thats where my boys leave me love notes)
3) Coffee :)
4) My husband!
5) My 6 wonderful children! What an honor God has placed upon me!
6) The internet! (I meet some of the most wonderful people there! and I can stay in touch with family ALL OVER much easier!
7) Cereal for dinner. (its dinner... need I say more)
8) Coffee (are you starting to see the pattern here? :) )
9) Frustration with my husband over him leaving my van empty on gas. (gives me the chance to spend time with God and learn patience .... forgiveness... and just plain love so that when my husband comes home ... its something to laugh about and not fight!)
10) Second chances!!!

~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~

Mel........... oh hon... so sorry to hear you and your son have been sick. Feel better real soon! Bonus on the weight loss though.... :)
Thank you for the encouragement. 1/2 pound is better than 0 pound. But darn.... it would have been nice to be a full pound... I want more yarn.................LOL

Aunt Joyce.......... Good for you! Another pound gone. Thats awesome!!!
Good grief...............look at all that stuff you have made already this year! WOW!
What a blessing you are to so many! Do you have pictures of all this? It would be fun to see pictures of all the fun stuff we're making with the yarn we are earning. I bought my 3 pounds of yarn that I earned last week so I can make a Valentine Flannel'ghan for Ken.
Okay... off I go... need to get a coffee refill and a new glass of water!
you all have a Thankful Thursday!
And remember........... this is one day at a time... one pound at a time.

Hugs... Love & Blessings,

weight lost!

Mel....sorry to hear you haven't been feeling well, but sometimes its good to be sick so that you appreciate it more when we're well! and food tastes so much better.
Tam...down is GOOD, proud of you, just remember we're all in this together. Thanks for the
runza recipe sounds good.
I'm down another pound and ready to buy more yarn....So far this year I've made five baby-toddler afghans, four pair of slippers, four hats, two pair of booties, and two baby caps.
I love the fact that I'm losing weight, but the idea of have lots of yarn is so nice.

weight loss...

Okay, for me - I was dealing with a sick little man this weekend, and then I ended up getting sick, too, so I don't know how permanent this is, but I've lost 5.5 pounds since last week! I hope to keep that off, and expand on it this next week! I was not drinking water for two days, as I switched to Ginger Ale for the nausea, but I'm back to water now. We'll see how well I do this time next week. Oh, and I haven't had any coffee in DAYS!! So perhaps tomorrow I'll feel back up to my old self and able to enjoy the finer things in life (like coffee) LOL!!

Way to keep up the momentum, Tammy! Half a pound doesn't seem like much, but then again, it didn't seem like much when it was creeping onto our bodies either, did it? Like you said, it's still loss, and we'll take whatever we can get (at least I know I will!!). Thanks for the recipe!! Oh - and I like weighing in on Wednesdays rather than Mondays - great idea!!

Joyce - great tip about getting up and going to get something rather than keep it all nearby. I'll have to try that one. Hopefully, I don't lose half my stuff in the process! Ha! Ha!!

Okay - now, I'm off to prepare dinner. We're having something yummy out of my daughter's cookbook. She has claimed a "Campbells Soup" cookbook as her own, and we're going to have Chicken and broccoli Alfredo. I'll be using low sodium cream of chicken soup instead of regular, to cut down on the salt level, and lots of broccoli. Should be yummy!!

Enjoy your evening, everyone!!

Weigh in Wednesday..............

Well............. not as good as last week........... but loss is loss. This morning I weighed in losing 1/2 pound.
How is everyone else doing? Come on ladies............ hop in and share!

Ok, heres my tip that is working for ME, I always keep all my ' stuff ' yarn, knitting needles, crochet hooks, anything I need for crafting right next to my chair! Well my granddaughter told my to but it in the other room and when I need something (like always) to get up and get it and go back and put it away. a lot of extra walking on my part but it helps me move around more and my chair area looks so much better, Hope this will help someone....

Tuesday Tips.............

Come on... lets go everyone!!!
I want to see some posts here today on some fun helpful tips on how get moving... or what to do to food to make it taste great but make it healthier... or how to keep your spirits up!!!
So lets go.... post those tips.... :)
We need some encouragement here!
My Tip for the day:
Trade Your Vanilla Lattes for Skinny Vanilla Lattes? WORTH IT!
Starbucks Vanilla Latte, 2% milk, Grande - 250 calories and 6g fat
Starbucks Skinny Vanilla Latte, Grande - 130 calories and 0g fat
If you drink a Starbucks Vanilla Latte every day, simply switching to the Skinny version would add up to 12.5 pounds of weight loss over a year. I think THAT is worth making the switch.

Thankful Thursday

Here are my 10 things I'm thankful for today, in no particular order:

#3: My children - they are AWESOME!!!
#9: Our weather! Believe it or not, yes, I'm thankful for our weather! We've not had it too bad this year, and we don't have earthquakes here!!
#5: My parents, without whom I would not be here!
#1: My husband, especially after this morning!
#7: Coffee!
#10: Having people trust me enough to watch their children!
#2: My Lord, is there really anything else to say?
#8: My siblings... one of which is making me an aunt for the first time!!!!!
#4: Things to be thankful for lists - helps to focus my attention on the good stuff!

Have a wonderful day, everyone!

Thankful Thursday..........

Oh... its here again..........time to list 10 things you are Thankful for!!!
I know you all can do it! Come on in ... grab a cup of coffee and visit for a while.

I am Thankful for:

1) My Heavenly Father! (He teaches me everyday to love.. live and laugh)
2) My earthly Father who is now in Heaven. ( he taught me to be the person I am today! I think he would be proud)
3) Coffee............ :)
4) My family!
5) The roof over my head.. food in my tummy and clothes on my back!
6) Being the one that others come to for advice. (means God trusts me enough to lead them to me.... even when I feel overwhelmed by it all)
7) Coffee.......... (dont give me that look........... you knew it would be here again :) heheehe)
8) Sink full of dirty dishes......... (means last nights dinner was awesome and we enjoyed each others company too much to mess with cleaning up after)
9) My yarn stash!!!
10) My very very dirty van! (the fact that I have a van to drive in the first place... and all that mud reminds me of the beautiful place I live. Beautiful land.. in a beautiful house... in the beautiful country!

Mel: Hey.... no worries about "no loss" No gain is GREAT!! Hang in there with us... grab your water and lets get moving. This is one day at a time... No pressure!
Thank you for the congrats on my first 3lbs! :) I cant wait to go buy my 3lbs of yarn this weekend.

Hey Dragonflymom: Great to see you!!!
Not bad for calorie count even with a day of McDonalds! I think you can do it with 1500 calories. My daily goal is more than 1000 and less than 1500. There are days I just make it over 1000 and some I'm pushing the 1500. But its working!
I dont go to the gym... I think its great that you do!!! I have things I can work out on at home... so thats good enough for now. When the weather gets nice I'll be able to get out and walk.
Thanks for the congrats! I'm pretty happy about it!

Okay.. time for a coffee refill and a new glass of water!
Have a very Thankful Thursday everyone!!!

hugs.. love and Blessings,

Wednesday, January 20, 2010

Well I went to the gym, and worked on the treadmill for 20 minutes at a speed on it of 3.5 which may not seem like much, but I have not done this in a long time, and it was going fast........LOL but I did stay on it for the whole 20 minutes........of course I went home right after that, but I was just glad to be there. Anyway I calculated my ideal weight, and it says I should eat 1650 calories a day, when I first started seeing a dietician awhile back, and actually wrote down everything, I had trouble eating that much.......so we lowered it to 1300 a day, but I am not going to do that..........I wrote down all I had today, and I ate 1623 even with the mcDonalds for lunch.....I have drank about 48 oz of water so far, which is good, since I usually drink diet pop....which I know can be just as bad as drinking non diet pop........my point for me is......today I didn't have a drink by my side at all times like I usually do, and when I have the bottle of water there, it goes slow.......so that is good.........I will shoot for less calories tomorrow, and try to stay at or under 1500......I also weighed myself tonight.........I will do the Wednesday weigh.

Congrats Tammy on losing 3 pounds.

weigh in Wednesday

Nothing to report - no gain, but no loss either. :( Can't really complain too much, though, because I have done NOTHING as far as working at it at all, and haven't gained anything!

Congratulations, Tammy!! 3 pounds is AWESOME! The best part is I didn't find those 3 pounds you lost! LOL

Time for me to buckle down and really do something with this. Hopefully, next week will show at least some improvement...

Till next time, all!

My Day?

Well just let me say that I have slacked off a lot, I will write more later. I had a Slim Fast shake for breakfast, but mcdonalds for lunch.....:( I had a mcchicken and fries.......bad bad, could have done without the fries..........anyway I will drink my water and head to the YMCA. So will be back later tonight with more, I have neglected this blog as well as my weight.

Weigh-in Wednesday...........

I've lost 3 pounds....................... I'm really excited!!!

I've been drinking my water ... some days better than others... but I have been drinking it... which is an improvement from not. :) I have been keeping my calorie count to under 1500 a day.... and moving around more! So it's working. Yay!!!!

How is everyone else doing.................?
Come on now... check in... loss or no loss............ its time to check in.. so we can encourage each other!

I really need to start digging through my recipes and sharing them here with you all!
I have several that would be great for all of us to use!

Okay........ I need to get things moving around here... the boys will be getting up soon for school!
You all have a GREAT DAY!!!

Good morning all.
Sorry I missed posting yesterday. I dropped off the boys and had a day of running errands and visiting my mom.
I'm off again today for a couple things but not for a couple hours yet.
Since I didnt post yesterday... I didnt get the chance to announce Weigh-In Wednesday. Now dont panic............ you dont have to tell us how much you weigh... ..just use Wednesdays to weigh in and post your loss. That will help us encourage each other.
Now I weighed in... but obviously wont have a post of 'Loss' until next Wednesday.
Thursdays will be "Thankful Thursdays" Post 10 things you are thankful for. This is a good way to keep your spirits up. Make us step back and see the good and thankful things we have and not always focus on things that go wrong. So many look at themselves and think their extra weight is who they are and its unattractive. Not true... you are NOT your weight... and you are NOT ugly. Dont let the extra weight you carry control you... you control it!!!
We are all in this to get healthier!! We will feel better... and yes... look better... but it starts on the inside.... inside our heads and hearts!!!

So...................What am I thankful for?

I am thankful for:
1) My God. He loves me for all I am and all I'm not! He loves me thin or thick. He loves me simply because I am His!
2) Coffee............ sorry ... just had too! :)
3) My family! They are my life.
4) My crafting....... gives me a chance to do something for others! I love making handmade gifts!
5) My laptop........... its where I have all my friends.
6) Cold winter days. I get to snuggle with my kids and watch a movie!
7) Stepping on cold wet winter clothes. Means my kids were out having the time of their lives in the snow!
8) Each and every trial in my life... past... (I've gained knowledge) present... (gives me a chance to spend more time with God) future......(God's not done with me yet!!!)
9) Coffee................ come on now... you knew it would be in here again! :)
10) low calorie foods............ hehehehe :)

So... anyone else?
Come on in................... share with us!
Coffee is on... and low cal muffins are on the counter! Help yourself and lets chat!

have a great day everyone!
hugs... love and blessings,

We have a fitness center in our apartment complex. So I started to go there. I want to go at least 3 times a week. Right now I go when Henri is in the preschool. Usually for half an hour I walk/run 2 miles and lose about 200 kcal each time. Next week my school starts so I hope I can find time when my husband is at home in the evenings. I can't take Henri with me since it might not be safe for him. Next week I will be changing my workout also and want to lose 300- 400 kcal each time.
I have been trying not to eat after dinner. And also not eat much during the day. I weigh myself usually once a week on Sunday. Right now I don't see much change but I have more energy after running/walking and it feels good.

A good day........

Howdy all..................
well....I had a good day yesterday.

my calorie count went like this:
Breakfast: 420 - breakfast sandwich
Lunch: 200 - banana & apple
Dinner: 500 - salad & thin slice of pizza
Snack: 100 - couple bits of birthday cake

Coffee: 100 - due to creamer
Water intake: 11 - 8oz glasses
____________________________
Total calories for day: 1320

Not bad!!! My goal is to get above 1000 and stay under 1500

How are all the rest of you doing?
What method are you using to lose?
Dont forget to get up and move around. Dont overdue..... just move more.
Try setting things you would normally have sitting next to you across the room so that when you need it.. you have to get up to use it... drink it.. or eat it.
That may sound annoying ... but it will be worth it when you start to see the weight come off and you find you have more energy!

Okay........... here we go............ New Day!
grab your water and lets get movin'

hugs... love & blessings,

Good Morning.............

How is everyone doing?
Yesterday was good for me! I drank as much water as I could through the day while being out. I had a breakfast sandwich for breakfast... a lunch meat sandwich for lunch... and steak & eggs for dinner. I didn't snack at all during the day... which was helpful!
Today is my sweet little Michael's Birthday. So we will be going to Chuck E Cheese for dinner tonight. Now don't worry... they have a great salad bar there ... so I will make myself a nice dinner from the salad bar and be happy!!! Thanks to my mom... we have some awesome coupons to use there ... so pizza and partying is our plans for tonight!

Mel............ its great to see you.......... and thank you for the great tips!!! You're right... If we make a purpose of sitting to eat... enjoy our food... eat slower.. chew better and not inhale our food... sit for a while... we will feel full and walk away feeling much better about ourselves. And yes... a glass of water before you eat... and while you eat... is a great tip. Water with your meals makes the food taste better... you enjoy it more. Water before your meal... helps fill you a bit before so that you don't over eat... and gets your pallet ready for the food.
Water is so very important during this time .... it speeds up your metabolism... and flushes your system of all kinds of things your body does not need. ... not to mention.. it keeps you hydrated!

Okay... I'm off to get my water... another cup of coffee... and get some knitting done for a while.
you all have a GREAT day!

hugs....love... & blessings,

water ... water ... water! :)

Yeah!! Let's do this thing!

Thanks for the pep talk, Tammy! Yes, I also have many many pounds of weight I want/need to lose, and gaining yarn is always awesome! I'm ready to get the ball (of yarn) rolling on this - I like all of your ideas, and have one of my own to share. I recently read this online - and it makes sense... DO NOT EAT WHILE STANDING UP. I never really thought about it before, but I do eat while standing up often. It is much better, if you are going to take the time and energy to eat something, to go sit down at the table and really savor each bite. No more rushing through meals - that's the reason I go back for more... I've eaten too fast and don't realize I'm full! My step-dad used to tell me it takes your stomach 20 minutes to tell your brain it's full... so for an entire 20 minutes you can keep eating, but your stomach is really full... I'm certain that's why I come away from meals feeling STUFFED! So that's my 2 cents worth today... sit down and savor your food, wait a few minutes before getting seconds... oh - and drink 8 ounces of water before each meal! :)

Happy weight loss, everybody!!

Happy New Year,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,

Lets get this weight loss movin' this year!!!
I have pounds of weight I want to lose and pounds of yarn I want to gain.
So............ no more slacking everyone.................. lets get our backsides and hooks in gear!
Dont panic... we're not going to go jogging.... we're not going to miss out on the yummy foods....... But we are going to get up and move more often... and we are going to pay attention to our size of servings we eat... watch our snacking ... pay attention to the nutrition of the foods.. and drink more water!
So............ today... on the way to church... I will get a big bottle of water at the gas station we always stop at to start my water intake for the day.
I will be making some lunchmeat sandwiches to take along with us to eat at the boys basketball games instead of the hotdogs and nachos they serve at the concession stand. I'll put mustard on my sandwich... (no calories in mustard)
Havent decided on dinner yet for tonight.. .but I will stop at one serving!
Okay.................... anyone else?
ready to start the new year with losing weight and gaining yarn?
LETS GO.
hugs...love... & blessing,
